The goal of this class is to experiment on canvas with a variety of media, including acrylic paints, mediums and inks, to achieve coloration and textural effects. The “framework” of composition will also be addressed. We will discuss the reasons behind design decisions, color choices, and textural effects and how they relate to the text(s) or subject matter. In this class, you will create a calligraphic painting or paintings about a subject; artwork can include abstract or realistic images. A number of illustration techniques will be encouraged, but not required, including rendering, painting, and photo transfer.
